The forecasted overnight low tonight is an unseasonably warm 49 degrees. Unfortunately, there is a 100% chance of rain, and 15-20 mph winds. So Janet suggested I go camping last night instead. Colder, but dry and calm. It was lovely.
I stayed at site #3, same place as I went with Lewis last year.
The hike in was short and easy. Some small hills, a couple twists and turns, but I didn’t break a sweat. There was ~6” of snow on the ground, but it was pretty well packed down. The trail registers showed at least three other people hiked around the pond in February, plus several in a January, and I don’t think most day-hikers log in and out.
The hike out was as good as they get: perfectly flat and perfectly straight.
I love the look of the sky, with shattered clouds backlit by orange morning sun.
I took a photo in the same spot as the last picture with Janet from October. Maybe she’ll come next time.
