Lewis lost his first tooth, and Kyle got a root canal, and they were both very tough about it.
The other night Lewis showed me how wiggly his tooth was, and asked me to pull it out. I pulled a little, but it was still attached pretty thoroughly, and I didn’t want him crying and bleeding all over. I told him to wiggle it with his tongue, and I’d pull it the next day. He came back five minutes later, handed me a paper napkin, and asked me to pull it again. Maybe the napkin would give me a good enough grip. I explained that if I had to pull hard, that probably meant it would hurt a lot. “I don’t care.” So, I grabbed it and yanked it out, and sure enough, he didn’t cry.
Then Kyle went and had a root canal this morning with no anesthetic. He’s now back at school, as though nothing happened.
Tough guys, both of them.
